Dec 11, 2019 · Visual Studio sometimes gets stuck completely off screen and closing and reopening the program does not help. External monitor combined with changes to the scale in 4k mode seems to cause this somehow.

My VS Code instance always switches to the laptop screen and resizes itself to fit in the screen. There is probably some missing detail, a particular video driver or video feature that is tripping this.

Apr 19, 2016 · I don't believe you can detach/move the output windows in Visual Studio Code. You can move the side bar to the left/right side, but that's it. There is no config option, sorry. You could try posting a feature request on the GitHub page: https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode

Sep 14, 2017 · To get it back, I have to either disconnect the external monitors, at which point Windows moves all open windows to the Surface tablet, or use Alt-Space + M, and then use the cursor keys to move the screen down. Steps to repro: 1. Open VS Code, move it to one of the external monitors. 2. Close VS Code. 3. Open VS Code, it's off screen.
