The Wadi: A Dry Riverbed with a Powerful Pulse In arid and semi-arid regions around the world, a distinctive landscape feature dominates – the wadi. This Arabic term, often translated as “valley,” denotes a dry stream or riverbed that awakens only during infrequent, torrential rainfall.

In Chapter 5, Al-Weshah describes commonly-applied methods of rainfall-runoff analysis and modelling in wadi systems. He points the way forward to research needs and future developments, and review selected computer models that can be applied to arid regions. A case study was presented at the end of this chapter.
