Eric Thomas Leslie Marriott (1915-1997) was the editor of The Railway Series from 1947 to 1973. He worked for both Edmund Ward and Kaye & Ward, serving as the assistant managing director of the latter.

Eric is the North West Railway #12 and is a tank engine who was requested to be built by Stephen Topham Hatt to look after the Kirk Ronan Branch Line in 1984. He is painted in the NWR green and red livery.
