I had had pain in my sternum off and on since January, but I thought it was possibly costochondritis due to a chronic cough I had been dealing with for some time. Anyway, in May it was so painful (in my upper sternum and radiating to the right side) that my PCP ordered a chest CT that was "highly suspicious for metastatic breast disease".

In November 2023 she began having pain in her sternum. A CT scan & bone scan showed signs of solitary sternal metastasis. At that time the onc was saying there was very little visible cancer. Jan 12, 2025 · I had one small bone met in upper sternum and some possible mets to soft tissue in mediastinum and lymph nodes in same area. Only the sternum was biopsied. ER+ (90%), PR+ (30%), HER2+. I started on HP protocal and anastrozole the end of July 2024. No chemo. End of September 2024: NED on PET/CT. I took a 3 month holiday from treatment.

Jan 10, 2025 · @livinglifenow I’m feeling the aches now and seem to be a little more tired and I do take the anastrozole at night. IM glad your biopsy went great and also that you only have 1 bone met. I was told I have 5 bone Mets. 3 in my spine, 1 in my sternum and 1 in left rib. I hope my biopsy goes well like yours. I’ll let you know how it went.

Sep 11, 2021 · Hello Jen - our dxes are very similar. Multifocal IDC. I was also Birads 5. However, I had a negative biopsy on the two that my surgeon biopsied; she did absolutely correctly but they came back (falsely) negative. If this happens to you, push for a lumpectomy anyway and sentinel node biopsy. I’m glad I had one so I could be properly diagnosed.

Feb 18, 2025 · I am 60 years old and was diagnosed initially with DCIS (Grade 3, ER, PR negative) Stage IIA, but have some invasive component as I had one positive lymph node following biopsy. Lymph node biopsy showed HER2+, ER 15% and PR 1%. I underwent 6 treatments of THP followed by mastectomy. Surgeon removed 3 sentinel lymph nodes.
