I had had pain in my sternum off and on since January, but I thought it was possibly costochondritis due to a chronic cough I had been dealing with for some time. Anyway, in May it was so painful (in my upper sternum and radiating to the right side) that my PCP ordered a chest CT that was "highly suspicious for metastatic breast disease".

In November 2023 she began having pain in her sternum. A CT scan & bone scan showed signs of solitary sternal metastasis. At that time the onc was saying there was very little visible cancer. She had a biopsy completed in December and there was no evidence of cancer. At that time the onc suggested we wait 4 months and follow up in May.

Jan 10, 2025 · @livinglifenow I’m feeling the aches now and seem to be a little more tired and I do take the anastrozole at night. IM glad your biopsy went great and also that you only have 1 bone met. I was told I have 5 bone Mets. 3 in my spine, 1 in my sternum and 1 in left rib. I hope my biopsy goes well like yours. I’ll let you know how it went.

And I have very dense "busy" breasts. It was weighing on me that maybe I should be doing more and possibly have the papillomas excised so I went for a second opinion to a high risk breast clinic. They reviewed all my imaging and found another suspicious spot that the local radiologist hadn't noted and I had a biopsy of that and it was DCIS.

I was actually shocked and embarrassed, and burst into tears. What they were concerned about was an area on my sternum and remaining breast that is like a big hard lump. Jan 12, 2025 · I had one small bone met in upper sternum and some possible mets to soft tissue in mediastinum and lymph nodes in same area. Only the sternum was biopsied. ER+ (90%), PR+ (30%), HER2+. I started on HP protocal and anastrozole the end of July 2024. No chemo. End of September 2024: NED on PET/CT. I took a 3 month holiday from treatment.

Saw thoracic surgeon who ordered a pet scan. The mass was positive and also there was an internal mammary node too but not the pulmonary nodule . And finally I got the diagnosis after biopsy. ER+ PR+. Waiting for her 2. Nervous as I will need radiation as they cannot remove the mammary node.
