San Diego High School is a pillar of the San Diego community and has been serving generations of students since its founding in 1882. SDHS is an IB World School that boasts highly engaging and rigorous courses preparing students for the most elite universities.

We welcome students from 9th to 12th grade who live Downtown San Diego, Uptown San Diego, North Park, South Park, Hillcrest, Golden Hill, Mission Hills, and the Baloa Park area to their neighborhood high school.

The San Diego High School campus is located at the southern edge of Balboa Park, and adjacent to San Diego City College, one of the fastest growing community colleges in the nation.

San Diego High has a rich history, dating back to 1882 when it opened its doors as Russ School.

At a local level our San Diego High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) provides volunteer opportunities and supports our school in numerous ways including student club and mini classroom grants.
