I can have the most runny of paints, add lots of stabilizer, and suddenly people will think that I have a paint very low in oil content, though the opposite is true.

If anyone has any experiences, with any of the aforementioned tubes of paint I’d love to hear about them. Furthermore, if anyone has any other suggestions please share :).

May 27, 2018 · I used to paint with lead white. I miss it. My choice was Michael Harding (UK manufacturer) and I heard very good things about Rublev. If I were in the USA I would buy Rublev or Blue Ridge because of good reports. My advice: [1] Pay attention to the pigments on the tube.

Sep 28, 2020 · The stink. Couldn’t go in the studio for two days. * Apparently lead white alkyd paint (Winsor & Newton used to make some) eventually hardens up too much over the years. Not as bad as zinc white oil paint, but still edging outside the goldilocks zone. Lots of very useful info there thank you! It’s lucky you remembered, so glad I asked you.

Mar 15, 2007 · The paint was “long” but not to the extent of having a ropey or taffy-like consistency. I examined the 20ml tube of Rublev Malachite Oil Colour that you returned and it is defective. We will determine the extent of this defect and diagnose it, but the oil paint appears to have coalesced into gel structures.

What I have is mostly Old Holland, Vasari, Winsor and Newton, Rembrandt, and a small collection of Holbein, Charvin, Williamsburg, and Rublev.
