The rice panicle is composed of the main rachis, rachis branches (primary rachis branches (PRBs) and secondary rachis branches (SRBs)) and spikelets (lateral and terminal spikelets) [3,7]. In a few rice varieties, there are tertiary rachis branches in the panicle.
