Philips CD100 won't play disc - diyAudio
Jun 10, 2018 · Thanks. The CD100 I have has philips 3.3uf in 2217 so I am going to replace it with another. Easy swap. Not sure about 2214 though. I will consider axial caps as well. The CD player is very easy to disassemble. Just need to remember the correct connections (Philips alternate those connectors with black/white color so not so hard either).
Problems with Philips CD100 - diyAudio
Nov 12, 2023 · After reading up on the CD100, I also changed the famous C2217. As everything was still all over the place, I changed all the blue Philips electrolytic caps in the unit, as my experience from restoring a PM3055 oscilloscope told me they would probably all be out of spec (measuring the removed caps showed me this suspicion was correct).

Sep 11, 2005 · i won't touch the original Philips axial leaded blue capacitors mounted in the audio board of the CD100, these are far more reliable than modern Asian made radial leaded consumer capacitors, whose expected lifespan is far less than 10 years, while Philips capacitors can be expected to last 30-40 years (most early-mid 60s ones i have encountered ...

Dec 4, 2003 · The Philips CD100 was the first commercial CD-player on the market, so really it is a vintage-object. The value depends srongly on the fact of the completeness of the original package, i.e. the original box, manual and first demonstration/test-CD (I do …

Dec 21, 2007 · I have a philips cd 100. I absolutely adore that machine, and I want it to be my cd player. I went to a guy's house, tried it out, worked fine, gave him the cash, took it home. Played nicely for 5 minutes, then the sound started cracking up, the right channel first. Another five minutes and come silence. It tracks just fine.

Sep 3, 2009 · I am in possession of a humble Marantz CD63 (1982, 1st gen), which has the same circuitry than the Philips CD-100, and Magnavox FD-1000. Those players have a good reputation, but not cult status as the LHH200. The thing is, they all use the same chips: SAA7030 (4x oversampler), 2x TDA1540 (14-bit dac)... so in theory they should sound the same.
Philips CD100 voltage change from 220V to 120V - diyAudio
Aug 13, 2013 · I have a Philips CD100 CD Player just arrived from England. It is set at 220V AC voltage. The transformer should have tapped primaries to allow connection to 120V. I removed the plastic cover on one side and it revealed a small circuit board with a fuse. There are also a couple of unused transformer connections on one side but they are unmarked.

Apr 20, 2004 · The conlusion is. Something was done wrong in the recording/mixing/mastering process of the CD rather than wrongdoing within the 14-bit DACs of Philips CD-100. That suggests to me, that the combination of Philips CD-100, my homebrewed cable and the Luxman C-03B is good enough to pinpoint tiny faults in audiodetail. Well that's not bad at all.
