Feb 20, 2021 · I've been shooting mostly 6fpe to 30 fpe pcp's for 24 years but the last couple years I got into 55-80 fpe rifles which munch air like crazy. It wasn't bad before because fills were $5 and a tank would last for a month or two. Now they only last a week if I'm shooting the more powerful rifles much. Also my 4500 psi tank costs $10 to fill now.

A hand pump gets old, fast. An air tank is a good idea (like a scuba tank). But then you have to find a place to fill it and it the cost.

Mar 31, 2010 · Most pre charged pneumatic air rifles like around a 200 bar fill. With a 200 bar tank, that means you can only fill the rifle totally full for the initial fill and every fill after that is short filled as the pressure in the tank will decrease every subsequent fill.

I bought a used Benjamin Kratos that the previous owner converted to .177 from .25 cal and an air tank that the local paintball field will fill for $10. I sold a big boomer rifle and took the minox zp5 off of it and put it on the Kratos. Starlings hate it.

Dec 4, 2021 · If you go with a PCP air rifle - which is probably a good idea since spring air guns easily destroy optics - you'll also need a specialized high-pressure pump, with specialized fittings. An ordinary compressor is nowhere near sufficient (~100 psi vs ~3000 psi for an air gun). Basic high-pressure hand pumps run about $50, powered ones around $500.

Feb 23, 2010 · If you still want to use pcp's I suggest selling those guns you two have and stepping up in price and quality. The trick is finding pcp's with rigid barrel mounting systems. One that can be had at a good price used is the older FX Royale. RAW's are pretty good. Daystate are decent. Mac1 USFT was by far the least as far as POI shifts for me.

Mar 16, 2008 · 99% of PCP air rifles are still built somewhat fragile but I think that will start to change in the next few years. With """pellets""" the best air rifles can exceed 22rf at 10Y, be as accurate as 22rf at 25Y, not quite as well at 50Y, but wind is a becoming a big problem by then. At 100Y PCP's don't stand a chance.
