Static Shock has a few rough spots as you'd expect from a gritty early 90s comic retrofitted for Saturday Morning television, but in terms of creating a memorable hero and engaging world Static Shock succeeded.

Jan 27, 2001 · Sharon's new boyfriend, a musician, is revealed to be Static's old nemesis Rubberband Man, who recently escaped from prison. This time, Rubberband Man will stop at nothing to reveal Static's secret identity.

On Oct. 16, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the 33-year-old star is producing a Static Shock movie through his production company Outlier Society. The film will center on DC Comics character Virgil Hawkins, a high schooler who becomes the hero Static after accidental exposure to a mutagen gives him electromagnetic powers.

Wildcat makes a comment about a "static shock" in regards to one of Black Lightning's attacks. The actor who supplies the voice of Black Lightning was a recurring voice actor on the old Static Shock cartoon (from which Black Lightning's new costume seems to have drawn inspiration).
