The Dassault Mirage F1 was used operationally by the South African Air Force (SAAF) in the “bush” war in Angola in the 1980’s in both its CZ and AZ versions. Two confirmed air-to-air kills were made by SAAF F1CZs over Angolan Air Force MiG -21’s. Kills were via 30mm cannon fire.
