Drawing Lewis structures involves several steps: Count the total number of valence electrons: Add up the number of valence electrons for each atom in the molecule. If the molecule is an ion, add or subtract the number of electrons equal to the charge of the ion. Draw a skeleton structure of the molecule: Connect the atoms with single bonds.
