Select Combo > Cluster Column - Line on Secondary Axis. Select Secondary Axis for the data series you want to show. Select the drop-down arrow and choose Line. Select OK.

On a chart, click the horizontal (category) axis that you want to change, or do the following to select the axis from a list of chart elements: Click anywhere in the chart. This displays the Chart Tools , adding the Design , Layout , and Format tabs.

When a chart displays a secondary vertical (value) axis, you can also change the scale of that axis. For more information about displaying a secondary vertical axis, see Add or remove a secondary axis in a chart.

For example, if your chart is a 3-D chart, you will see Depth gridline options, and if your chart has a secondary horizontal axis, you will see Secondary horizontal and vertical gridline options.

Add a data series to a chart on a separate chart sheet. If your chart is on a separate worksheet, dragging might not be the best way to add a new data series. In that case, you can enter the new data for the chart in the Select Data Source dialog box.

To emphasize different kinds of information in a chart, you can combine two or more charts. For example, you can combine a line chart that shows price data with a column chart that shows sales volumes.

Change the text and format of category axis labels and the number format of value axis labels in your chart (graph).

Click Add Chart Element > Axis Titles, and then choose an axis title option. Type the text in the Axis Title box. To format the title, select the text in the title box, and then on the Home tab, under Font , select the formatting that you want.

The horizontal (category) axis, also known as the x axis, of a chart displays text labels instead of numeric intervals and provides fewer scaling options than are available for a vertical (value) axis, also known as the y axis, of the chart.

To add a secondary vertical axis title, select Axis Title > Secondary Vertical, and then on the Format Axis Title pane, select Size & Properties to configure the type of vertical axis title that you want.
