The G11 is really one of those rifles that gun enthusiasts have heard about, but rarely seen being fired. To my knowledge, there are only two videos of it on youtube, and this here is one of them. It really is a fascinating gun considering it's novel use of "caseless" ammunition, which in theory would allow previously impossible rates of fire.

Now I just need to find a g11 somewhere so I can fire it once lol It feels like a solid piece of metal almost, like a sintered metal part. It smells like oil. Don't know what it tastes like. I wonder if there's a good 3D model for a g11 out there somewhere so I could at least print part of it as a companion piece for the Ammunition.

The G11 was just one of many attempts throughout the history of war to replace training with technology, which sometimes works, but often doesn't, and while the technology in this case is indeed ridiculously cool, I think you'd have to say it didn't really work out, and I suspect probably wouldn't have regardless of the politics or other ...

Jul 1, 2023 · Caeless ammo might have a "case" like powder bags in artillery or non at all like what G11 used, If the propellant is a single solid piece around the projectile or in bags that will combust just like propellant if you have a case, There will be some residue from both but with the right composition is can be minimal.

Despite being German and loving the HK design, i see the flaws of the HK G11 (plus it's fucking ugly unlike the usual HK firearms), but i am curious and i would love to see a revolution in firearms design during my lifetime.

If anyone has any information on the price of the 4.73x33mm caseless ammo, it would be most appreciated.

The heat removal aspect of modern ammunition is rarely discussed but honestly I think it's the single biggest hurdle in getting rid of cased ammunition. Dealing with heat buildup is already an issue for light and heavy machine guns, and they get around it by using open-bolt designs and quick-change barrels.
