The Bahr el Ghazal (Arabic: بحر الغزال) is a region of northwestern South Sudan. Its name came from the river Bahr el Ghazal. The name translates as "sea of gazelles" from Arabic. Bahr el Ghazal borders the Central African Republic to the west.
