Mar 23, 2023 · Plus most movies these days don't take full advantage of the premium formats outside of Christopher Nolan who actually uses real IMAX cameras. The rest are "enhanced for IMAX". Most AMC "IMAX" are old theaters they've retrofitted with a screen that stretches wall to wall and floor to ceiling, but it's not shown in the proper scope for real IMAX.

Feb 27, 2022 · I've had some bad sound experiences at AMC IMAX too, sometimes there is a rattle in the ceiling or something. It's been a long time since I've looked at the process for both, but last I looked the Jordans ticket was cheaper for a better quality experience, and AMC was more expensive for a regular movie experience with a big screen.

Sep 16, 2021 · AMC Lincoln Square is the largest IMAX in North America. If you live in NYC this is the location to go to for No Time to Die, Dune, and Eternals for that larger than life 1.43 aspect ratio. And probably for any IMAX movie anyway.

Apr 30, 2023 · Obviously, the first row is close (a few feet) in all theaters typically, but I'm referring to the last row. Does IMAX force even the furthest row closer to the screen (for immersion effects) than a typical theater. The few IMAX theaters I've been to seem to have a higher pitch too, so it seems like the distance between rows is less but higher.

Aug 19, 2019 · AMC Burbank is a Single Laser IMAX with a screen size of 37x63ft (effective screen area of 26.2x63ft for 2.40 presentations) with comfy seats. AMC Universal CityWalk is a Dual Laser IMAX with a screen size of 58.2x79ft (effective screen area of 32.9x79ft) with old worn out seats. Personally, I prefer the dual laser system.

May 30, 2019 · After reading that GXL was a 4 story/75 ft. Screen and 2 X's the size of IMAX, I went to see Top Gun in the new AMC GXL theater at Prairie Fire, Overland Park, KS. Really disappointed. The theater was no bigger than IMAX, it had decent surround sound but nothing comparable to Dolby / Atmos, and the picture quality was nothing to write home about.
