A combo project - a 3D printed base and knob, containing a rotary encoder and Arduino Pro Micro. This project was inspired by model files, schematics and code shared on the Prusa printers site.

In this instructable I will walk you through creating a custom rotary encoder for use with arduino projects. The two main parts of the encoder are 3D printed and I have included the files for them here, although chances are you will want to design your own to fit your specific needs.

To build it yourself, all you need is an Arduino Pro Micro, a rotary encoder, and access to a 3D printer. The rotary encoder is a simple component that can spin infinitely in either direction — like many volume knobs on audio equipment — and can also perform as a momentary button.
