Texas Longhorns guard Tre Johnson is in the final running for a notable award amid a memorable freshman season on the Forty Acres. Johnson is one of 10 finalists for the Jerry West Award, which is given annually to the best shooting guard in college basketball.

Tre Johnson and Tramon Mark scored 18 points apiece, Kadin Shedrick added a double-double and Texas never trailed in an 89-58 romp over LSU

He flipped the ball to Julian Larry on the right wing, who in turn found Tramon Mark isolated against Texas A&M's Wade Taylor IV on the far side. Mark, the taller man by 5 inches, took Taylor right to the rim, where he kissed the decisive basket off the glass and in to give the Longhorns a memorable 70-69 win.

With 17:07 remaining in the second half of Texas' showdown against in-state rival Texas A&M, the Longhorns faced a 22-point deficit, Texas roared back behind 24 points after intermission from star freshman Tre Johnson to escape with a 70-69 win.

Earlier in the game, Texas trailed 51-29 after Texas A&M star guard Wade Taylor IV buried a three-point basket with 17:07 to play in the second half. Johnson and the Longhorns went on to score 41 points in the remaining minutes of the game.
