Officers were in downtown San Diego on a different call when they heard gunfire coming from a nearby trolley platform

A man died Saturday night after being restrained by a bar security guard and patron and then two San Diego police officers outside a bar in the Gaslamp Quarter, a sheriff’s official said. Authorities allege the man had been involved in some sort of disturbance inside the bar and bit a security guard on the arm before struggling with officers who handcuffed him and restrained his legs.
