The Kings County Fire Department is mourning the loss of 62-year-old Fire Captain Mark Eads, who died in the line of duty on Saturday.

Kings County Fire Department has lost Captain Mark Eads, a 20-year veteran who was promoted to the position in 2021, after a medical emergency while on duty at a call in Avenal.

Kings County Fire Captain Mark Eads died Saturday night while at a house fire in Avenal. He was 62. Eads and his Engineer responded in Engine Twelve to a smoke in a structure call on the 800 block of Skyline. While on the scene, Eads suffered a medical emergency and was taken to Coalinga hospital where he died.
