With his team trailing archrival No. 8 Alabama by five with 10:52 remaining, Tigers guard/forward Chad Baker-Mazara was hit with a flagrant 2 foul after thrusting his forearm into the back of the head of Crimson Tide guard Chris Youngblood while fighting for position for a potential rebound.

Auburn men’s basketball lost a key player in the second half of its top 10 showdown against Alabama after Chad Baker-Mazara was ejected for a Flagrant 2 foul. It happened after Baker-Mazara elbowed Alabama guard Chris Youngblood in the back of the head as the players were boxing out for a rebound.

A pair of key Auburn starters have earned hardware ahead of this week's SEC Tournament. Senior forward Chad Baker-Mazara was named All-SEC third team while guard Denver Jones locked down a spot on the SEC All-Defensive team,

"I don't mind even talking about this without any kind of appeal: Chad Baker has another year of eligibility," Bruce Pearl said. "He does, because he fits all the criteria. Some of the other guys that have been talked about, I'm not going to specifically reference, but Chad is the one that right now qualifies."

The electric guard from Auburn could benefit from a new ruling that helps former JUCO athletes gain more eligibility at NCAA institutions.

Given the emotion of the loss to its most despised rival, many Auburn fans were not happy about the situation, and some even voiced their anger toward Baker-Mazara. However, many
