Gavin Newsom has set a date for the final parole hearing for Lyle and Erik Menendez — emphasizing that his office could choose to let the killer duo out of jail even if the court decides to keep them in prison.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom says his office does not plan to weigh in on Erik and Lyle Menendez's clemency until after their parole hearing in June. He stressed on his podcast that the clemency process is completely independent from the re-sentencing decision which will ultimately be made by a judge.
