Memphis-based International Paper announced the closure of four facilities across the U.S., impacting more than 600 employees.

International Paper said on Thursday it was shutting down four production facilities in the U.S. and laying off about 1% of its global workforce to tackle softer demand for its packaging products from e-commerce and consumer goods firms.

Sustainable packaging solutions provider International Paper (IP) is set to shut down four of its US facilities by the end of April 2025. The shutdown is a part of the company’s efforts to streamline its operations and focus on sustainable packaging solutions.
