President Donald Trump began his second administration with a blitz of policy actions to reorient U.S. government priorities.

Monday's inauguration ceremony took place inside the Capitol Rotunda due to freezing temperatures in Washington D.C.

Donald Trump, who overcame impeachments, criminal indictments and a pair of assassination attempts to win another term in the White House, will be sworn in Monday as the 47th U.S. president taking charge as Republicans claim unified control of Washington and set out to reshape the country’s institutions.

After signing a slew of executive orders, President Trump and first lady Melania attended two inaugural balls.

Former President Joe Biden officially transferred power to President Trump at noon on Jan. 20, 2025, and left via helicopter after Mr Trump was sworn in.
