DeSantis called for New College to take over management of the museum from Florida State University by Aug. 1 as part of his annual budget proposal.

As Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Legislature continue their feud over immigration, the governor proposed a $115.6 billion budget for next fiscal year, along with a recommendation to add $505 million to the current budget for state and local law enforcement agencies to help federal officials deport unauthorized immigrants.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) slammed the single bill the Florida legislature took up out of session, claiming it sets up Florida to become a “defacto sanctuary state.” DeSantis called the Florida legislature to meet in a special session to begin supporting President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
