I checked the page file and windows had automatically set it to 18GB for some reason (recommended size was 5.5GB). I then moved the page file to my secondary HDD.
Because if Windows doesn't feel the need to use the paging file, it won't. It's trivial to add extra extents to the page file to grow it if needed.
