Google has finally started rolling out Android's redesigned QR code scanner — a year after we first spotted it in a teardown.

Think twice before scanning a QR code. If a code appears someplace unexpected, inspect it first. If it contains a URL with misspellings, the code could be a sign of fraud.

Once a QR code is scanned, the owner gets a push notification, with the pet profile shown to the “finder.” The pet profile can include up to five photos, a pet’s name, breed, weight, and color.
