WASHINGTON — MTV is taking the color out of its programming on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to encourage people to talk about what race means in their lives.

Besides the icon change and black-and-white revamp, Instagram’s larger suite of apps, including Layout, Hyperlapse and Boomerang, have also received new icons.
