Former Oregon Ducks cornerback Christian Gonzalez is standing up for his former head coach following the end of his second season with the New England Patriots.

Shortly after the conclusion of the 2024 NFL regular season, the New England Patriots made the controversial decision to fire Jerod Mayo as the franchise's head coach. Mayo, who replaced Bill Belichick in New England following the 2023 season,

New England Patriots All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez believes Jerod Mayo was done dirty, but at the same time, he understands the business side of football. When appearing on the “Frat Rules” podcast, Gonzalez shared his thoughts on the Patriots firing Mayo after only one season with the team.

Whether or not the New England Patriots organization handled Jerod Mayo's firing fairly, all eyes are now on what Mike Vrabel can build in for the Pats.

The Patriots made Jerod Mayo a one-and-done head coach after a 4-13 season. Christian Gonzalez didn't necessarily agree with the decision.
