While Microsoft Excel's comments and notes tools both let you annotate a cell, they serve different purposes, work in diverse ways, and vary in how they look on a printed Excel worksheet.

Suppose we have an Excel worksheet in which a comment has been inserted in cell D3, as shown in the above image. As you can see, the comment text appears in black color in size 9 in Tahoma font.
