May 2025 was a busy month for language AI, with Google, Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft, and OpenAI announcing new developments.

While I doubt the “substance” in Google’s keynotes was a reaction to Microsoft’s one day earlier “fluff”, it was still a refreshing contrast.
