Jack Drury, one of the key acquisitions in the Colorado Avalanche's major trade last week with the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks, scored his first goal in his new uniform as his club outlasted the New York Rangers 5-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Necas and Jack Drury were traded to the Avalanche on Friday night in a stunning three-team trade that sent Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes were awaiting a Saturday night tilt with the Islanders when they found out about the deal.

Drury’s uncle is Chris Drury, who spent four seasons with the Avalanche (1998-02), was a member of the 2001 Stanley Cup championship team and is the current General Manager of the New York Rangers.

Drury scored the opening goal in Sunday's 5-4 victory against the Rangers.

The Colorado Avalanche have assigned forward Jere Innala to the Colorado Eagles, it was announced Monday. Innala, a product of Hauho, Finland, has split time this season between the NHL and AHL, going pointless in 15 games with the Avalanche while collecting 15 points in 21 games with the Eagles.

Martin Necas had two assists, nearly scored twice himself and excelled on the top line. Jack Drury scored a goal and centered a new-look depth line while all 12 Avs forwards played more than 10 minutes, a departure from the usual top-heavy distribution.
