The Minnesota Timberwolves traded Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks based in part because they craved flexibility.

Acquired in a blockbuster preseason trade that sent Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and a first-round pick to Minnesota, Towns has unlocked new dimensions in New York’s offense with his ability to stretch the floor playing the stretch five at Madison Square Garden.

The game was Minnesota’s first at New York since the Knicks acquired Towns from the Timberwolves and sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota just after training camps opened. The Knicks won at Minnesota last month.
