A domestic dispute in Portage Lake that escalated into a day-long standoff Monday resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man, a fatally injured police K-9, and a wounded sheriff's deputy, authorities said.

Maine State Police say one of their K-9’s died in the line of duty Monday night.They say Maine State Police K-9 Preacher, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois, was killed during a tactical team operation in Portage.
