'Out-of-control' wildfire forces evacuations in McDowell County
One fire remains after three wildfires began earlier this week in McDowell County. The McDowell County Emergency Management said crews were battling three wildfires in McDowell County that were first reported on Wednesday. Officials said the Crooked Creek Fire is located in Old Fort and the Watson Place and North Fork Fires are located in Marion.
McDowell County wildfire grows to 250 acres, evacuation orders remain
McDowell County Emergency Management said that the wildfire in Old Fort is currently 15% contained, but evacuation orders remain in place. The wildfire, burning in the Crooked Creek community, is estimated to cover 250 acres.
