The United States has frozen its financial contributions to a United Nations fund for a multinational security support mission in Haiti, a UN spokesperson said, a move that would stop $13.3 million in pending aid.

United Nations – The U.S. has notified the United Nations that it is freezing funding to a U.N.-backed mission in Haiti tasked with fighting gangs trying to seize full control of the country’s capital, the U.N. said Tuesday.

Kenya has suffered a major blow following the United States’ decision to cut funding, amounting to more than $13 million (Ksh1.7 billion), for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti.
