Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) reports a 61% surge in operating income and strong performance in AWS and advertising segments despite facing foreign exchange challenges.

The revenue figure for AWS can be found in Amazon’s Q4 2024 earnings report. Amazon Web Services, which provides server infrastructure for countless games, websites, and streaming services, brought in $28.8 billion in revenue, accounting for a solid chunk of the company’s overall $187.8 billion for the quarter.

Amazon faced ~900 Mn FX headwind in 4Q’24 which was ~700 mn higher than assumed. For the third consecutive quarter, AWS grew 19% YoY. Despite the North America segment being more than 2.5x the size of the International segment, it grew by 10% whereas international revenue increased by 9%.
