U.S. President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday confirmed that his 25% global car and truck tariffs will take effect as scheduled on Thursday and that duties on automotive parts imports will be launched on May 3.
One manufacturer told NBC News that she had managed to push the existing 45% duty on her products onto American customers.
A weak currency could offset some of the tariff impact from President Trump’s 25% duty on imported cars, said David Paterson, the representative in Washington D.C. for the Canadian province of Ontario.
