Ninth-ranked OU's comeback attempt fell short against No. 12 Alabama 8-6 on Sunday. The Crimson Tide (25-4, 6-3 SEC) took two of three from the Sooners (22-5, 5-4) to win the series.

Alabama rode an 8-1 lead through four innings to an 8-6 victory in Tuscaloosa, meaning OU also dropped the weekend series 2-1. The Sooners won rubber games against South Carolina and Mississippi State to begin life in the SEC the past two Sundays, but could not sustain that success this time and fell to 22-5 overall and 5-4 in league play.

The 12th ranked Crimson Tide won their series over 9th ranked Oklahoma two games to one over the weekend. The Tide prevailed in games one and three while the Sooners took game two. Alabama improved to 25-4 overall and 6-3 in the SEC.
