A U.S. appeals court has declined to block a federal judge’s ruling that said the United States must bring a man back to Maryland after he was wrongly deported to El Salvador amid the Trump administration’s hardline crackdown on immigration.

President Donald Trump, when asked about a Salvadoran man deported from the United States in error, on Friday told reporters that he would follow what the Supreme Court said, a day after the top court told the government to facilitate the man's return.

The court acted in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran citizen who had a court order preventing his deportation to his native country over fears he would face persecution from local gangs.
