Microsoft have announced they are “streamlining the unexpected restart experience” with a new black screen to replace the signature blue one that has been a frustrating sign of computer trouble since the early 1990s.

Microsoft’s famous blue screen of death, instantly recognizable by its distinctive bright blue background and technical error messages, will be replaced by a new black screen interface beginning this summer with Windows 11 version 24H2 devices.
