At its AWS re:Invent 2021 conference in Las Vegas, the company revealed it would be launching 30 new AWS Local Zones in major cities around the world - the first such launch outside the US.

AWS has announced over 30 new local zones will be constructed, delivering single-digit millisecond latency performance at the edge of the cloud, including two in Australia, in Brisbane and Perth.

AWS currently has 24 cloud regions with 77 availability zones, including six European cloud regions in Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Paris and Stockholm.
