Google is adding new features to Data Layers in its JavaScript Maps API, which will allow developers to build a new breed of interactive apps that collect geographical data input from users.

Tiers will start at $500,000 a year for access to 0.3 percent of the company’s tweets. Researchers say that’s too much for too little data.
