Around 32,000 homes, farms, schools and businesses are still without power today following Storm Éowyn. Ten days on from the storm, the Government is being criticised for its lack of preparedness. Hundreds of people still also remain without water and telecoms.
About 8,000 still without power in NI one week after Storm Éowyn
About 8,000 properties in Northern Ireland are still without power one week on from Storm Éowyn. At its peak 30% of all premises in Northern Ireland had their power disconnected. The former MP Francie Molloy, who has been without electricity since Friday, said customers have been "failed".
Some schools remain closed due to Storm Éowyn damage
Seven schools in Northern Ireland will remain closed on Tuesday due to structural damage caused by Storm Éowyn. The Education Authority (EA) maintenance helpline has received more than 150 reports of damage to school buildings since Friday. The reports ranged in severity from missing roof tiles, fallen trees, and serious structural damage.
