U.S. President Donald Trump has authorized economic and travel sanctions targeting people who work on International Criminal Court investigations of U.S. citizens or U.S. allies such as Israel, drawing condemnation - but also some praise - abroad.

The International Criminal Court said President Trump’s executive order sought to harm its “independent and impartial judicial work.” Several European countries reaffirmed support for the body.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court, claiming that it “has engaged in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting America and our close ally Israel.”
