Mexico will take Google to court if maps shown to US-based users continue to label the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America across the entire body of water, President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday, arguing that US President Donald Trump’s order to rename it only applies to the part of the continental shelf under US control.

MapQuest's service has also refused to change the Gulf of Mexico's name, despite Trump's executive order last month to rename it as the 'Gulf of America.'

As he flew over it on Feb. 9, President Donald Trump, by executive order, renamed the Gulf formerly known as Mexico as the Gulf of America. This, he said, is "even bigger than the Super Bowl," which happened to be his destination at the time.
