Android Authority reports that Google’s streaming device, Chromecast, seems to have suffered from connectivity problems over the last few days. The issues affect the 2nd-gen Chromecasts, as well as Chromecast Audio.

Apparently the cause of the issue has been identified, but Google hasn't shared what that is yet. What it is reiterating is not to factory reset your Chromecast if you're affected (a message we got on Monday too) – as this will lock you out of the device completely.

At the beginning of the week, owners of the Chromecast 2nd Gen and Chromecast Audio were presented with a message that suggested their devices had “outdated device firmware” and could not be used. There was initial confusion from the message that pushed folks
