Prosecutors say police found Joseph Donohue's body wrapped up and weighted on his houseboat in Charlestown Sunday.

New information has been released on the murder of a man found stabbed to death on a houseboat in Charlestown last weekend.

A 24-year-old named a “person of interest” in connection with the death of a man on a luxury houseboat in Charlestown now faces a murder charge, prosecutors said Thursday. Nora Nelson was arrested at the scene of the man’s death on Sunday night on a trio of warrants charging her with a variety of domestic violence offenses unrelated to the Charlestown case.

A distraught friend of the victim said he was a Boston lawyer and a divorced father of three. Sources said his dog was also found dead in the harbor.

Police were conducting a welfare check at the houseboat, which was docked at the Charlestown Marina, when they found the body of Joseph Donohue, 65, police said.

The Boston attorney who was found stabbed to death on his houseboat was wrapped and weighted down, a prosecutor said.

The suspected killer allegedly told police that the victim was at DB’s Golden Banana, but gave another story to his family, prompting a sweep of the houseboat.
