Wentworth is a village in northeastern Newton County, Missouri, United States. The population was 151 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Joplin, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. Wentworth was founded in the 1880s, and probably took its name from Wentworth, North Carolina, the native home of a share of the first settlers. Mining was historically the primary industry in Wentworth. A post office called Wentworth had been in operation since 1890. However, this post office was destroyed by a tornado in 2011.
