We would like to do the Hurtigruten cruise from Kirkenes to Bergen. HOW does one fly to Kirkenes? IS there time to do onshore excursions before the ferry leaves or do you have to stay overnight and wait for the next ferry?

I think you would have to fly via Bergen or Oslo. The ferry is in only in Kirkenes for about 4 hours so to see Kirkenes you would be better staying the night. I would be inclined to do the …

I think you're barking up the wrong tree if you're asking about a Hurtigruten ship excursion. While there are excursions available, I believe they're pretty much only for passengers of the line. To check this out for certain, phone or email the Hurtigruten shipping line. If by some chance they allow non-passengers to join excursions, you will then have to chart which excursion is leaving when or even if there are excursions that may be accessed from Svolvear. Sounds too complicated and unlikely to me compared to simply searching for a local excursion company.
